THIAMETHOXAM 25% WG

Kerala a consuming state in India with regards to Vegetables from Tamilnadu and Karnataka, Thanks to the new introduction of a  new generation pesticide  THIAMETHOXAM25% .Studies conducted at Kerala Agricultural university ,the vegetables sprayed with Thiamethoxam shows low residual pesticides residues so vegetables can be safely consumed says university authorities.Kerala Agricultural university recommends Thiamethoxam25% for paddy and other crops as interim recommendation. the quantity of the chemical needed for pest control is very little say2Gms in 10Litres of water for spraying.,which dose not mean that this chemical is extremely toxic to humans.

CARTAP HYDROCHLORIDE

MR. Jonson M.S asked me to throw some information on the present trend of pesticides use in Kerala, i may try to focus some commonly used pesticides herewith.
CARTAP HYDROCHLORIDE is an insecticide which is used agaist stem borer and leaf folder of paddy.The insecticide has systemic activity and is a SYNTHETIC ANALOGUE OF NERIS TOXIN found in a marine annelid. Generally speaking recommendations granular insecticides are expressed in terms of ai/ha .here the recommended dose is 25kgi/ha.

GOOD BYE GM SEEDS




Mr. Abu Bakkar Kunnju of Pullampara panchayat of Trivandurm District in Kerala is a successful farmer. He finds earnings for his livelihood from Vegetable cultivation and Banana cultivation to a limited extend. He has two daughters and a son. . His children and his wife help him in farming operations from dawn to desk. With the earnings from this vegetable cultivation alone he could carry out the marriage of his daughters. According to him Cowpea and Snake guard cultivation pay rich dividend to him. Out of the One acre land, which he leased, is used for this cultivation. He uses his own seeds from his crops for generations of Cowpea and Snake gourd, witch fetches a good market prices to him .If genetically modified seeds are used in adjoining area what could be his fate? Do you believe that the quality of his seed looses through generations? Misery and agony may be waiting for him? Answer is NO, as Cowpea is generally a self-pollinated crop, which pollinates by its own pollen.

Yesterday we had a visit on the vegetable growing tract of the Panchayat and could found on interesting protuberance on Cowpea. The peas after first harvest develop a Gall like swelling of the flower stalk and leads to the cessation of fruit setting there by decreasing the yield. Researchers in Agricultural Science have to focus on this issue
